Owain Fôn Williams to Stockport County

Less than a week after Stockport County manager Jim Gannon commented on BBC Radio Manchester that signing a new goalkeeper is priority one for the club, Owain Fôn Williams, of our U21 squad has been signed. With his signing today, Mr. Gannon further noted “If he steps up to the mark then he’ll make that position his own.”

In the past Owain had attracted significant interest from Premier League clubs, citing his tremendous promise. However in speaking with fellow Wales ‘keeper and good friend Wayne Hennessey who spent part of last season on loan to Stockport from Wolverhampton, he noted “that if an opportunity arose to join them I shouldn’t hesitate.”
