show you support

September 4th, 2008 | By: j | No Comments »

I had started on an entire different posting and then realized that something needs to be said of lack of support for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

For the upcoming Azerbaijan match only 8,000 tickets are sold for the 75,000-seat Millennium Stadium. Quite obviously that is deplorably low levels of support and this needs to improve radically if Wales is going to get through. If you’re anywhere near Cardiff, please get out and show your support.

Tottenham defender Chris Gunter has issued a challenge to fellow U21’s capped for Wales to start the 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan at the Millennium Stadium.

“There’s no time for us to develop,” said the twenty year-old defender.

“We need to repay the manager’s faith in – we cannot wait until the next qualification campaign.”

He added:

“I hope the crowd come to give us a lift because their support will be invaluable to a young team like ours.

“If we start the campaign well and start off with some momentum, I’m sure the people will come.

“We must be ready now in this qualification campaign and give it a good go.

“We’ve got the players, now we’ve got to have the belief to deliver.”
