U21 suffer a tough loss

Wales U21 lost a tough 3-2 match to Stuart Pearce’s English squad in the first-leg of their play-off in Cardiff.

Wales took the early lead with Simon Church scoring at the thirteen minute mark before David Wheater and Adam Johnson of Middlesbrough put England out in front. One minute before the break Simon Church leveled the match again. However Wales valiant effort fell short when Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the final goal of the match sixteen minutes after the break to give England the 3-2 victory.

Wales U21: fon Williams, Eardley, Blake, Nyatanga, Wiggins, Adams (Allen 59), Collison, King (James 84), MacDonald (Brown 76), Ramsey, Church.
Subs Not Used: Taylor, Jacobson, Mike Williams, Marc Williams.
Goals: Church 13, 44.

England U21: Hart, Wheater, Mancienne, Taylor, O’Hara, Milner, Cattermole, Huddlestone, Johnson, Noble, Agbonlahor (Campbell 76).
Subs Not Used: Heaton, Stearman, Cork, Bertrand, Derbyshire, Ebanks-Blake.
Goals: Wheater 19, Johnson 35, Agbonlahor 61.
